BIDDEFORD — Sister Lucille Huot, formerly known as Sister St. Paule d’Avila, died at St. Joseph Convent on December 30, 2015, at the age of 92.

Sr. Lucille was the seventh child of a family of eight children born to Delphis Huot and Henriette Bourgault Huot. She was born in Biddeford on March 15, 1923. She received her elementary and secondary schooling at St. Joseph in Biddeford. In 1941, Sr. Lucille entered the Congregation of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, also known as the Good Shepherd Sisters of Quebec, in Biddeford.

She earned a bachelor’s degree at Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts. and a master’s degree at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Sister Lucille taught for 26 years in the elementary and secondary schools of Biddeford and Van Buren and in Lawrence, Massachusetts. She served as secretary for the Congregation’s General Administration in Quebec and for the Provincial Administration in the United States over the course of 29 years.

Sister Lucille was transferred to St. Joseph Convent in December 2008.

Survivors include: several nephews and nieces; and one sister-in-law.

Visiting hours and a Mass of Christian Burial were held this morning. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.
