BATH — The Morse High School boys basketball team recovered from a slow start to post a 66-52 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Winslow on Thursday at Bath Middle School.
Despite winning their final two games, the Shipbuilders (6-12) just missed out on a Class A South postseason spot.
Down 14-9 after a quarter, Morse claimed a 29-25 halftime lead and extended out to 49-40 edge after 24 minutes.
Keegan McDonough led the way for Morse with 22 points, with Parker Onorato adding 18, Ayden Brillard and Dakota Freeman 10 points each, and Matt Belanger six.
Spencer Miranda paced Winslow with 16 points.
Girl’s Basketball
LISBON FALLS — Junior forward Chloe Dwinell poured in 19 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 44-36 Mountain Valley Conference victory over Lisbon on Thursday.
The Saints (9-9) stepped up their offensive game in the second half, expanding their lead by five points in the final frame. Abby Castonguay contributed 10 points for St. Dom’s.
Senior guard Bree Sautter posted five field goals, including three from 3-point range, for the Greyhounds (7-11).

Freeport’s first quarter didn’t hold Thursday, as the Falcons fell to Lake Region in Western Maine Conference play.
The Falcons finished their regular season with a 9-9 record, while Lake Region moved to 14-4. Freeport has clinched a spot in the Class B South quarterfinals.
After trailing 13-12 after one frame, the visiting Lakers went on to lead 27-21 and 41-37 after the next two quarters.
Kristen Huntress paced Lake Region with 22 points, with Spencer True adding 19.
Freeport was paced by Taylor Rinaldi, who tallied 11 points and hit a pair of treys. Jessie Driscoll and Kayla Belanger split 18 points down the middle.

Host Edward Little jumped out to a 16-5 firstquarter lead en route to a KVAC win over the Eagles, who finished 1-17.
Emily Jacques paced the Red Eddies (13-4) with 19 points, with Karli Stubbs adding 16.
EL led 29-15 at the half and 47-22 after three.
Lauren Sturgess turned in a solid game for Mt. Ararat with nine points, six rebounds and four assists. Nikki Bradstreet chipped in eight points and six boards.
At the foul line, Mt. Ararat was 7-of-9, while EL finished 18-of-29.

POLAND — Brock Vachon popped for 15 points as Lisbon (2-0) captured a 47-21 victory over Poland on Thursday.
Wesley Lucas chipped in 12 points, with Jake Patenaude adding 10. Amanda Mason, Brandon Bartlett and Dawson Martel were solid on defense.
