Maine State Police are investigating the death of a Wiscasset woman who may have jumped from a moving pickup truck early Sunday in The Forks.

Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, identified the victim as Kimberly Hill, 33.

McCausland said detectives are looking into the possibility that Hill jumped from a truck driven by her boyfriend, Tyler Poland, 29, of Greene.

According to state police, Poland called 911 just after 2 a.m. to report that he had placed Hill in the back of his truck and was driving south along Route 201.

“The best guess was he was heading south to the closest hospital, which would be in Skowhegan,” McCausland said. Redington-Fairview General Hospital is in Skowhegan.

By the time police and first responders caught up with Poland’s vehicle in The Forks, Hill was dead. McCausland said Poland has been cooperating with police.

No other details were available Sunday evening regarding why Hill may have jumped from a moving vehicle.

“The circumstances of this we’re still working out,” McCausland told the Morning Sentinel.

Route 201 in The Forks, which is in Somerset County, was closed for a time while investigators gathered evidence. Evidence will be processed at the state police crime lab in Augusta. An autopsy was conducted Sunday by the state medical examiner’s office.

The results of the autopsy were not available Sunday evening.
