CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Meagan Lantz homered and drove in five runs, and Harvard rode a big early lead to a 10-7 victory over the University of Maine in a nonconference softball game on Thursday.
Rachel Harvey had three hits, and Rachel Carlson and Janelle Bouchard each drove in two runs for the Black Bears (15-14).
After falling behind 5-0 in the first two innings, Maine used a five-run fourth to get within 8-7, but the Crimson (17-13) added single runs in the fifth and sixth.
SUNY DELHI SWEEPS SMCC: Sarah Yambor went 4 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI and SUNY Delhi rolled to a 10-2, five-inning victory over the Seawolves in the opener of a doubleheader at South Portland.
SUNY Delhi won the second game 16-3 in six innings.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
ST. JOSEPH’S 12, LASELL 11: Kat Gadbois scored five goals and added two assists, and the Monks survived a late flurry from the Lasers to improve to 4-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with a victory at Newton, Massachusetts.
Kelsey Dumond added two goals for St. Joseph’s (10-2).
The Monks took a 12-7 lead on the fifth goal by Gadbois with 11:04 remaining before Lasell (6-5, 2-2) rallied in the final 10 minutes.
USM 19, MAINE MARITIME 1: Sam Campobasso had four goals and two assists to pace Southern Maine (3-6) in a rout of the Mariners (0-11) at Gorham.
Lauren Lessard added three goals and four assists, Sarah Pelligrinelli had three goals and one assist, and Kenzie Kidder also had a hat trick.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
UMAINE: The University of Maine announced the signing of Danny Evans of Leeds, England, a 6-foot-4 point guard, who will join the team in the fall. Evans averaged 17 points and six rebounds as a postgrad for Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.
