Cheverus High School has picked John Moran as its new principal.
Moran, who begins July 1, has been principal since 2008 at St. Louis University High School, a Jesuit college prep school of 1,100 students in Missouri.
Before that he was an English teacher, track coach, administrator and director of the campus ministry program at St. John’s Prep, a Xaverian Brothers high school north of Boston.
Moran succeeds John Mullen, who was principal at Cheverus for the last 26 years, and worked at the school for 37 years total.
Cheverus, a co-ed private independent, college preparatory school sponsored by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits,) one of three independent Jesuit secondary schools in New England. It currently enrolls 470 students.
Moran has a doctorate in education from the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, and a bachelor of arts in English literature/theology from Fordham University. He also holds a master’s degree in English literature from Middlebury College.
Moran and his wife, Trina, are both New England natives.
