Gov. Paul LePage appeared at a town hall Wednesday at Greenville Consolidated School.

During the event LePage spoke about wind and solar power in the Moosehead Lake region.

“Is there room for wind and solar? Yes, in certain spots of the state. But I want to tell you Moosehead is not one of them,” LePage said, according to a report on WCSH.com.

SunEdison has aroused opposition to wind power in the Greenville area with a proposal for a 26-turbine wind farm on Misery Ridge, near Moosehead Lake. But the project has been mired in uncertainty since April, when SunEdison declared bankruptcy. The company has sold some of its other Maine projects.

Although the governor also mentioned solar power, there have been no public reports of proposals for significant solar projects in the Moosehead region.

LePage also spoke about welfare, gun rights and Maine’s income tax.
