A severe weather advisory Monday afternoon included tornado warnings for portions of northern Franklin and Somerset Counties, according to the National Weather Service in Gray.
The weather service tweeted that severe thunderstorm warnings were in effect until 3 p.m. for areas that included Rangeley, Phillips and Kingfield as severe weather moved east across the region. The weather service said tornado warnings were in effect until 3 p.m. for areas that included Farmington, Weld and Phillips.
A hail warning was also in effect for the area. The Emergency Management Agency in Franklin County has received reports of golf-ball sized hail and strong winds in the Kingfield area, as well as trees down in the Eustis and Rangeley area, said Director Tim Hardy.
Areas in Somerset County in the path of a severe thunderstorm path included Pittsfield, Solon and Athens, with a warning in effect until 3:15 p.m., according to the weather service.
