Your Aug. 26 editorial, “Our View: Message to America: Sorry we gave you LePage,” which is presented as an apology from Mainers, puts forth your opinion – which you are certainly entitled to do, as are all Americans.

But what you are not entitled to do is represent others as if you speak for them. Such an exhibition of arrogance on your part is offensive to me and, I expect, to others as well.

You are not authorized to apologize for me. If I think it needs doing, I will do it myself.

I ask that, in the future, you not assume that you represent this Mainer when you present editorial opinions.
