TOPSHAM — Doris Mary Comtois Malloy, 78, passed away on September 15, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in Topsham, ME. The daughter of Raoul and Bernadette Comtois, she was born on February 22, 1938 in Fall River, MA.

Doris grew up in Fall River, MA, lived in Yardville, NJ for a number of years and finally settled in Maine in 1971. She worked as a legal secretary at Sanborn, Morsehead, Shade & Dawson in Augusta for many years and was the office manager of Disability Rights Center in Augusta where she retired at age 65. After her retirement, Doris shared her vitality and love of life as she brightened the lives of the residents at Maine Veterans Home in Augusta where she assisted with resident activities.

Doris is most known for her vibrant, positive energy. Whether she was dancing, singing, bowling or just being with family and friends. Doris brightened and energized any room she was in. She was loved by many and loved fiercely in return. Her motto was “and this too shall pass” and had an unending spirit of forgiveness and acceptance. Her ability to remain positive and see the good in people was something many admired about her.

Over the last two years, she has shared her life with her companion, Henry Breton of Augusta, ME. They met on the dance floor and instantly had a connection through their Canadian French heritage. She and Henry have worked together helping various local organizations including the American

Legion and Le Club Calumet.

Doris is survived by her daughter Leslie Bazinet Beattie and her husband, Donald Beattie of Topsham, ME; Tina Burton and her husband, Jerry Burton of Chelsea, ME; Julie Merrill and her husband Jeff Merrill of Chelsea, ME; Steve Malloy and his companion Teri DeYoung of Atkinson, NH; Terry Malloy and his wife, Tanya of Augusta, ME; Holly Ward of Waynesboro, TN and Gordon Malloy of Jensen Beach, FL. Her brother, Raymond Comtois and his wife, Patricia of Westerly, RI, also survive her.

Doris was Mémère to many grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all of them.

Doris was predeceased by her husband, Michael Malloy of Pittston, ME.

A service will be held at the Kennebec Community Church, 20 Saint Andrews Street, Augusta, ME at 3pm on Thursday, September 22, 2016. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Doris’ life directly following the service. Doris will join her late husband, Michael, at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.

Doris was lovingly cared for by CHANS of Brunswick, ME and before her passing she requested that donations be made to: CHANS Home Health Care, 60 Baribeau Dr., Brunswick, ME, 04011 or The Memories Station, PO Box 308, Bath ME, 04530 in memory of Doris Malloy.

Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner.
