SACO — Paul R. Paquin, 60, of Saco, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 30, 1955, in Biddeford, a son of Emilien and Rejeanne (Frechette) Paquin. He was a graduate of Thornton Academy.

Paul owned and operated several local variety stores over the years. He later worked at Oakhurst Dairy in Portland. Most recently, he was employed at the B&M Beans canning facility in Portland, until retiring due to ill health. He was a member of the BCTGM Local 334 Union.

Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics, and loved to be around animals.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2015; his brother Raymond in 2013; his brother Conrad in 1952; and a step-son, Shawn Whittemore, in 2005.

He is survived by: his mother, Rejeanne Paquin of Biddeford; his daughter, Cherice Hagerman, her husband Ryan and their daughter Averyl of Buxton; four sisters, Lucille Beaupre and her husband Michael of Biddeford, Angela Messer of Farmington, Diane Harden of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Denise Goodrich and her husband Michael of Waterboro; five brothers, Leon Paquin, Michael Paquin and his wife Donna, and Richard Paquin, all of Biddeford, Daniel Paquin and his wife Kristine of Saco, and Normand Paquin of Ogunquit; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. Biddeford, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Hope Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Biddeford. To share condolences online, please visit HopeMemorial.com.
