HAMILTON, N.Y. — Bobby McMann scored 6:05 into the third period Friday night as Colgate recovered from a two-goal deficit to tie Maine 2-2 in a nonconference men’s hockey game.

Chase Pearson scored first for the Black Bears (3-2-2) on a power play from Eric Schurhamer and Blaine Byron with 10:04 left in the second period.

Maine made it 2-0 when Rob Michel scored from Mark Hamilton and Nolan Vesey with 2:08 left in the period.

Rob McGovern finished with 39 saves for the Black Bears, who were outshot 41-31 by the Raiders (0-3-3).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

SUNY-CANTON 5, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: Noelle Niemiec had a pair of power-play goals and added two assists as the Roos won an opener at Canton, New York.

SUNY-Canton opened a 3-0 lead midway through the second period before Kierra Wright scored for UNE from Vanessa Van Buskirk and Mary Wirth.

PROVIDENCE 3, MAINE 2: Whitney Dove and Blair Parent scored in a 44-second span as the Friars (3-5, 0-1 Hockey East) rallied past the visiting Black Bears (3-6, 1-3).

Catherine Tufts scored an unassisted goal with 3:34 to play in the first period and added her second of the game 3:31 into the second period from Emilie Brigham to give the Black Bears a 2-0 lead through two periods.

Madison Sansone scored from Christina Putigna and Rachel Rockwell for Providence 8:19 into the third period.

FIELD HOCKEY

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 6, NICHOLS 0: Brooke Zakorchemny had a pair of unassisted goals as the Nor’easters (17-3, 12-0 Commonwealth Coast) shut out the Bison (2-17, 0-12) at Dudley, Massachusetts.

UNE finished a second perfect conference regular season; the other was in 2013.

Marge Gardiner, Bridget Cavanaugh and Brooke Marshall added unassisted goals, and Brooke Lemerise scored from Vonde Saunders.

UNE will be home Wednesday for a league semifinal against Salve Regina.

MAINE 5, NEW HAMPSHIRE 1: Samantha Wagg scored twice as the Black Bears (12-6, 5-2) defeated the Wildcats (6-11, 4-4) at Orono to secure a No. 2 seed in the America East tournament.

Wagg scored at 10:18 off a penalty corner from Libby Reidl. They teamed again at 31:30 when Reidl took a penalty corner and fed Wagg. Reidl added a goal on a rebound 1:43 later as Maine took a 3-0 halftime lead.

Riley Field scored an unassisted goal 6:51 into the second half to make it 4-0 before Nicky Bajus scored from Rachel Bossi for New Hampshire.

Casey Crowley added a late goal from Sydney Veljacic.

FOOTBALL

SOUTH FLORIDA 52, (22) NAVY 45: Quinton Flowers ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns to help South Florida (7-2, 4-1 American Athletic) beat Navy (5-2, 4-1) at Tampa, Florida.

Flowers keyed a balanced attack that gained 629 yards against an overmatched defense.
