GORHAM — Peter Charles Thomas, 62, of Gorham, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at his home.
           He was born on July 12, 1954 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Charles and Joan (Campbell) Thomas.
           Peter graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City in 1972. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy where he learned his skills as an electronic technician. He loved the great outdoors and enjoyed kayaking, camping, geocaching and hiking. He was also a ham radio enthusiast, a pastime which began during his high school years.
           Peter married his wife, Claire (LaFortune) Thomas, on Nov. 28, 1998. His marriage to Claire blessed Peter with a loving family of children and grandchildren. Claire passed away on Feb. 22, 2015.
           He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Gary Thomas; and his wife, Claire. Peter is survived by: two stepsons, Erik Jeffers (Dede) of Biddeford, and Brian Jeffers (Nicole) of Arundel; one stepdaughter, Mondae Lizotte (Joseph) of Dayton; two brothers: Scot Thomas (Felicia) of Michigan City, Indiana, and Stuart Thomas (Jan) of Raiford, Florida; stepfather, Lewis Timberlake; stepbrother, Philip (Amy) Timberlake; stepsister Jennifer (Brian) Swinehart; seven grandchildren, Alex Jeffers, Zackary Jeffers, Jacob Lizotte, Hannah Lizotte, Andrew Lizotte, Declan Jeffers, and Adalyn Jeffers; six nieces and two nephews, SueAnn Richards (Joel), Charles Thomas (Phuong Nguyen), Joylynn Marsley (Jon), Sara Ashby (Matthew) Katelyn Thomas, Courtney (Alonso) Conchari, Andrew Swinehart and Valerie Swinehart. Peter is also survived by a special friend, Tina Grover.
           Peter was a very kind man with a wonderful sense of humor, qualities deeply appreciated by his family and friends.
           Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, from 2-3 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco.
