SOUTH PORTLAND — Jennifer Kirk, who ran a write-in campaign for the District 1 school board seat, won the position with 330 votes in Tuesday’s municipal election.

The open seat was on the ballot without candidates because no one submitted nomination papers to run for the District 1 position, which represents the east side of the city, near Bug Light Park, Southern Maine Community College and Willard Beach.

Kirk, 47, is a youth services provider at the South Portland Clubhouse of the Boys & Girls Clubs and a lunch and recess aide at Small Elementary School, a six-hours-per-week job that she said she’d give up if elected to the board.
