It is time to do away with the Electoral College.
It looks like, for the fifth time, the Electoral College is going to trump the will of the people. American citizens of small states (such as Maine) have been deemed to be less worthy than the citizens of large states: Their votes were more important than ours.
Do we get a discount on taxes to make up for our decreased capability? In case of a military draft, are our young men less likely to be called? If our responsibilities are the same, why not our rights? Isn’t our country supposed to be a democracy where all citizens are equal?
