Your editorial stances are often worth respect, but your virtual silence on the ongoing struggle at Standing Rock is embarrassing. How is the first attempt, in 100 years, to break yet another treaty with Native Americans not news?
How is the long-term deployment of attack dogs, tear gas and water cannons (in freezing weather) against hundreds, probably thousands, of unarmed protesters not news?
How is a huge protest that sustains itself for months not news?
Most U.S. news organs stay shamefully silent, but must a paper in a city like Portland fall in step with the shallow cowardice and subservience of NBC and CBS?
I beg you, do your job as journalists! Inform us. What hope have we under the coming administration if journalists don’t do their work?
