University of Maine baseball coach Steve Trimper has been chosen as Stetson University’s new coach.
Stetson athletic director Jeff Altier announced Saturday that he will introduce Trimper as the school’s baseball coach on Monday.
Trimper coached the Black Bears for 11 seasons, compiling a 309-292-2 record, and signed a three-year contract extension in April. His team’s qualified for the NCAA tournament twice – in 2006 and 2011.
Trimper previously coached at Manhattan for seven seasons, posting a record of 172-174-2.
At Stetson, Trimper will succeed Pete Dunn, who announced his retirement earlier this week after 37 seasons. Dunn ranks 15th in NCAA Division I history with 1,312 wins.
