AUGUSTA — Gov. Paul LePage announced Monday he would be holding a town hall meeting in York on Tuesday.
The meeting is the second in southern Maine in as many weeks as LePage has resumed taking his message directly to voters. LePage is expected to discuss his current two-year state budget proposal and other legislation aimed at welfare reforms, helping the elderly and the state’s economy.
LePage has held at least two dozen town hall meetings since 2014. The meetings usually feature LePage pitching some of his policy positions and then taking questions from audience members in a moderated forum.
Several have led to controversial exchanges between LePage, audience members or state lawmakers.
Tuesday’s meeting will be held at Union Bluff, 8 Beach St., in York. Seating will start at 5:30 p.m. and the town hall is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m.
Bags, beverages and signs are not allowed in the forum, according to a release issued by LePage’s office Monday.
