SACO – Police are asking for the public’s help to resolve a 24-year-old mystery in York County.

On the evening of Oct. 29, 1993, Thomas Napier, 21, told his grandparents he was going to a Halloween party in Biddeford and drove away from their Lyman home, never to be seen alive again.

Once he found out the party was postponed, a friend told investigators that Napier said he was heading to visit other friends.

Detectives later learned that sometime after that Napier may have been involved in a fight in the backyard of some apartments at 24 Bradley St. in Saco. His car was discovered in the parking lot of that apartment complex.

On Feb. 20, 1994, Napier’s body was found in the Saco River near the West Channel Dam in Biddeford and a subsequent autopsy revealed that he had drowned.

Police say the manner of his death is considered suspicious.
