Two runs in the first and one in the fifth were enough for Morse, which hung on to defeat Leavitt, 3-1, in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference high school softball play on Tuesday.

Hope Faulkingham belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to give Morse (11-4) a 2-0 advantage. Faulkingham also doubled on the day, while Marissa Parks had a pair of singles, and Micailah Albertson and Mikayla Rose each chipped in with a base knock.

The Shipbuilders struck out eight times against Leavitt’s (9-6) Abby Robertson, who walked a pair over six innings of work.

Dory Kulis matched Robertson with eight strikeouts on the hill for Morse, giving up just four hits and walking three in seven full innings.

The Shipbuilders will travel up to Erskine Academy today at 4 p.m. to cap their regular season.

The Bobcats completed a perfect season and upped their overall winning streak to 86 games with a non-conference win over the Saints in Auburn.

Meranda Martin and Sydney Underhill-Tilton combined on the mound on a one-hitter, with 13 strikeouts and two walks.

Martin came within a home run of the cycle, with three singles, a double and a triple, while Bryanne Lancaster singled twice and tripled, Cassidy Harriman singled twice and doubled, Camryn Hurley picked up a single and a double, and Tilton and Kaylee Williams had a pair of singles. Richmond scored 18 runs in the sixth inning.

MONMOUTH 17
LISBON 2

The Mustangs scored eight runs in the first for a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Greyhounds at Lisbon.

Lisbon finished the regular season with a 10-6 mark. The Greyhounds will await the final standings for a playoff opponent.

Emily Chase scattered four hits for the win. Tia Day led Monmouth (12-4) with three hits and three RBIs.

Baseball

LISBON — Lisbon exploded for 15 runs in the first two innings on its way to a dominant 19-3 win (five innings) over Boothbay in MVC action.

Devin Libby was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and scored four times, while Nick Lerette (2-for-3) and Nate Havlicek (3-for-4) split 10 RBIs down the middle. Tyler Halls was 2-for-2 with three runs scored, and Lucas Francis doubled and tripled while also going 2- for-2.

Lisbon (11-4) had an 18-0 lead in place when Boothbay (2-11) got its only runs off Ryley Austin in the fourth inning. Austin went all five innings, striking out three and walking a pair.

The Greyhounds will close out the regular season with a trip to Monmouth Academy today at 4 p.m.

The Shipbuilders improved to 11-4 with a KVAC win over Leavitt.

Tait Nygaard earned the mound win, going six frames on four strikeouts, four hits and one run. Tucker Banger picked up the save, pitching an inning with one strikeout.

Morse jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Jackson Walker (2-for-3, two runs scored, RBI, two stolen bases) drove in the game’s first run with a single and scored on a two-out RBI double by Riley Lamarre.

Morse visits Erskine Academy today at 4 p.m.

Zach Small tossed a complete game three-hitter to lead the Bobcats to a nonconference at Auburn.

Richmond (14-1) scored in the first inning as leadoff hitter Matt Rines doubled and scored on a Small groundout.

Small struck out five and walked one, while Rines added a single and Brady Johnson singled for the Bobcats, who host North Yarmouth Academy today at 4 p.m.

Girls lacrosse

AUBURN — Piper Norcross scored a game-high four goals to power Edward Little to a 10-9 KVAC win over Brunswick at Walton Field.

Anna Davis had three goals and three assists to lead Brunswick, with Jenna Brooks picking up two goals and two helpers. Colleen McKearney, Rian Sachs, Tessa Alexander and Emily Coffin added a goal each.

Mikaela Ashbrenner made 13 saves.
