BATH

Resurgence Dance Company’s “We Are Rebels,” written and directed by Ashley Steeves, returns to the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath at 7 p.m. June 23 and 24 and 2 p.m. on June 25.

“We Are Rebels” is an original contemporary ballet set in a dystopian future. It tells the tale of Fea, a young woman who decides to take a stand against an unjust government. Fea dares to leave her job in The Palace, say good bye to her sister, and risk everything to find a fulfilling path. The Queen has people looking out for her, and discovers Fea’s plans to join the Rebel Army. Sending a powerful assassin after Fea and her compatriots, The Queen continues on with her experimental human testing, knowing that the Rebels won’t be a problem for long. The ballet introduces a cast of characters that includes a blissfully ignorant King, a naïve intern and a mad scientist. Their stories are told through contemporary dance, electronica music and acting.

Tickets for adults are $16 and students are $12 at the door. Tickets purchased in advance online at chocolatechurcharts.org are $12 adults and $8 students. This is a full length contemporary ballet featuring electronic beats, anime-style costuming, and may not be suitable for young children.
