BRUNSWICK — Join members of the Maine Press Association for a discussion about fake news, how it spreads and how some politicians now use the claim to attack the press. The discussion, hosted by the American Association of University Women, will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20. at Thornton Oaks Retirement community, 25 Thornton Way, Brunswick.

Panelists will discuss the spectrum of fake news, how to spot it and avoid spreading it. Maine Press Association President, Lisa DeSisto, CEO of Maine Today Media, will moderate a discussion with Judy Meyer, Executive Editor of the Lewiston Sun Journal, Cliff Schechtman, Executive Editor of the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram, John Swinconeck, editor of The Times Record and Irwin Grantz, Anchor of Morning Edition since 1992 with Maine Public.
