This is the fourth year the chamber will host the event.
Things kick off at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11 when runners will lineup at the races starting and ending point, the Wells Elks Lodge on 356 Bald Hill Road. From there the race will wind through back roads of Wells on predominately flat ground.
Adults (18 and up) looking to register for the 5K can still do so for $20. After Nov. 9 the price will jump up to $25. Students pay a lower fee of $15, but that price jumps up to $20 after Nov. 9.
Pricing is the same for those looking to join the Veterans Day walk, and walkers will leave from the same locations, at the Wells Elks Lodge.
Kids 10 and under can participate for free.
Those considering running are encouraged to act fast. The first 100 paying registrants will receive a free long sleeve T-shirt.
Proceeds for the event go entirely to Honor Flight Maine, a nonprofit organization that offers airplane rides to Washington, D.C., for veterans who would like to experience the capital and reflect on the capital’s memorials.
After the race, food and beverages will be sold and awards will be distributed for the best overall runner. Awards will also be given to the individual under 20-years old with the best running time, as well as those between the ages of 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and best runner over 70.
Those looking to register can contact the Wells Chamber of Commerce at 646-2451, check out their website at wellschamber.org, or visit RunSignUp.com/Race/ME/Wells/VD5k.
