BRUNSWICK — A trio of Bowdoin College field hockey players have been honored with All-NESCAC awards following the 2017 season.

Sophomore Kara Finnerty and junior Elizabeth Bennewitz were named First Team All-NESCAC, while senior Julian Fiore received Second Team All- NESCAC recognition.

Finnerty earned her first All- Conference nod following a team leading 12 goals, while dishing out five assists for a 29-point season. The sophomore tallied three game-winners, including the overtime tallies against Bates and Williams.

Bennewitz appears as an All-NESCAC selection for the second consecutive year after earning Second Team accolades in 2016. The junior defender led the team with six assists and added five goals. Bennewitz added four defensive saves to the fourth-ranked defense in the NESCAC.

As a senior captain, Fiore started all 17 games for the Polar Bears and recorded three goals and three assists. Fiore earns All-NESCAC honors for the second straight year after being named a First Team selection last season. The senior notched a pair of game-winning goals, securing wins over Wellesley and Connecticut College.

The Bowdoin field hockey team ended the year with a record of 10- 7, becoming just the third seventh seed in NESCAC history to upset a No. 2 seed when the Polar Bears bounced Tufts in the quarterfinal round on Oct. 28.
