SANFORD — Julia Allen missed a contested layup as time expired, and Marshwood hung on to beat Sanford 48-46 in a girls’ basketball game Friday night.

Paige Cote led Sanford (3-13) with 19 points, and hit a free throw to cut the lead to one point with a minute remaining.

Casey Perry of Marshwood (15-1) made a free throw with 5 seconds remaining before Allen’s missed layup.

Natalie Herbold scored 14 points for Marshwood.

SCARBOROUGH 42, PORTLAND 35: Sophie Glidden scored 10 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter as Scarborough (13-3) broke away from a 35-35 tie to beat the Bulldogs (11-5) in Portland.

Julia Freeman paced the Red Storm with 18 points.

Davina Kabantu led Portland with 11 points.

FREEPORT 59, LAKE REGION 47: The Falcons (13-3) used a 35-17 second-half advantage to rally past the Lakers (11-5) in Naples.

Alex Goodman led Freeport with 22 points. Caroline Smith added 18.

Lauren Jakobs scored 17 points and made two 3-pointers for Lake Region.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 54, WAYNFLETE 26: The Seagulls (13-3) led 17-2 after the first quarter and cruised to victory over the Flyers (5-10) in Portland.

Brianna Plante scored 13 points for Old Orchard Beach, making three 3-pointers. Meghan Niedzwiecki added 12 points.

DEERING 47, NOBLE 37: Delaney Haines scored 28 points to lead the Rams (7-8) over the Knights (2-14) in Portland.

Haines scored 19 of her points in the first half to help Deering to a 24-18 halftime lead. Ashleigh Mathisen added six points and 11 rebounds.

Raegan Kelly scored 15 points to lead Noble.

WINDHAM 31, THORNTON ACADEMY 18: Hannah Talon scored 12 points, Meghan Hoffses had eight and Tara Flanders added seven to lead the Eagles (8-8) past the Trojans (5-11) at Windham.

Alexandra Hart finished with 10 points for Thornton.

TRAIP 40, SACOPEE VALLEY 24: Cassidy Delano scored 10 of her 12 points during the first half, and Kiki Huntress led a shutdown defense that propelled the Rangers to a win over (7-9) over the Hawks (2-14) in Kittery.

KENNEBUNK 52, WESTBROOK 30: Jessica Dupler and Alaina Schatzabel combined for 12 of the Rams’ 17 points in the second quarter as they took the lead for good and easily handled the visiting Blue Blazes (2-14) at Kennebunk.

Westbrook had a 15-14 advantage after the first eight minutes.

Dupler and Schatzabel each finished with 12 points to lead Kennebunk (9-7), and Emily Archibald had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Alexandra Weisheit also tossed in 11 points.

Quincey Lyden scored 13 points for the Blue Blazes.

YORK 57, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 36: Anna Baker scored 14 points and Nina Howe added 10 as the Wildcats (10-6) jumped to a big first-half lead on their way to a victory over the Raiders (0-16) at York.

Baker and Howe each scored six points in the first quarter as York jumped to a 19-9 lead.

LEAVITT 47, MORSE 31: Sophie Gilbert finished with 24 points to lead the Hornets (8-8) past Morse (3-13) at Turner.

Sierrra Wallace paced the Shipbuilders with 19 points.

EDWARD LITTLE 47, MESSALONSKEE 44: Ally Turner scored 18 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Eagles, who fell to the Red Eddies at Oakland.

Gabrielle Wener added 12 points for Messalonskee (10-6).

Hannah Chaput led Edward Little (11-5) with 13 points.

MONMOUTH 62, DIRIGO 26: The Mustangs (16-1) held the Cougars (2-15) to six first-half points on the way to a win.

RANGELEY 40, KENTS HILL 28: Natasha Haley scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Lakers (15-2) to a win at Kents Hill.

CHEVERUS 8, SCARBOROUGH 0: Abby Lamontange had four goals and an assist, including a pair of goals in the first period, as Cheverus/Kennebunk (17-1) rolled past the Red Storm (8-9-1) at the Colisee.

Sarah Noyes had a pair of goals and an assist for the Stags, Caitlin Wolff had a goal and an assist, and Hannah Woodford added a goal.

GREELY 4, ST. DOMINIC 1: Greely/Gray-New Gloucester (15-3) took control with a pair of goals in the first 2:04 of the opening period and handled the host Saints (15-3) at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.

The outcome prevented St. Dom’s from clinching the No. 1 seed for the North playoffs that start next week. Greely will be the No. 3 seed.

Bridget Roberts and Molly Horton set up Courtney Sullivan 57 seconds into the game for Greely, and Madison Pelletier extended the lead on a feed from Leah Walker.

Callie Samson scored for St. Dominic from Avery Lutrzykowski 6:07 into the second, but Roberts answered on a Jayme Morrison assist at 9:34 to regain the two-goal advantage.

Roberts added an insurance goal in the third on Horton’s second assist of the game.
