BIDDEFORD — Paul F. Craven of Biddeford passed away suddenly on Feb. 9, 2018, while on vacation in Guadeloupe.

He is survived by his wife, Anne-Marie Craven; his daughter, Noemie Craven and her husband Christophe Mouraux; his son, Simon Craven; and his beloved granddaughter, Lucie Mouraux. He is also survived by four siblings—Thomas J. Craven III, Anne Kipp, Martha Fredo, and Mary Craven. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas J. Craven Jr. and Mary Upham Craven, and his sister Therese Craven.

Born in Houlton, Maine on Dec. 24, 1950, Paul attended elementary school in Arlington, Massachusetts, high school in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and went on to Bowdoin College. Paul was a lifelong traveler and settled in France for many years, where he met his wife and built his family.

A Mainer at heart, Paul and his family later moved to Biddeford where he fully embraced his love for gardening, fishing, and tennis.

After his family, Paul’s great passion was his work with OneSight, (an organization founded by his employer, LensCrafters) providing eye care for communities in need in the United States and internationally.

He embraced life, and his generous, inquisitive, loving, and joyful spirit made the world a better place.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME, on Monday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to OneSight: www.onesight.org/donate.
