TOPSHAM — The Topsham Parks and Recreation Department has announced a cross country and spring field hockey program.

The cross country program kicks off on April 23 at 5:15 p.m. at the entrance of the Mt. Ararat High School track.

Practices will be every Monday and Thursday, with meets held on Wednesdays (beginning May 2).

Participants must provide their own transportation to area communities, with the meet schedule and directions provided during the first week of practice.

This program is available to children ages 6-12 who reside in SAD-75. Younger children ( ages 6-7 ) will require supervision.

The cost to register is $35 and includes a team T-shirt.

Participants are asked to pre-register by April 12.

Also, a spring Eagle field hockey clinic will be held, with Mt. Ararat coach Krista Chase leading the way.

Skill sessions will be held on April 22, April 29 and May 6 at inside the high school gymnasium, with players assigned in groups based on their age and skill level.

The sessions are for players from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade, and will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The coat is $35 for SAD-75 residents. Players need to bring a stick, shin guards, a water bottle and mouth guard. Chase will have some extra sticks available to borrow.
