SCARBOROUGH — Doris B. Blanchette, 90, of Old Orchard Beach died on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough.

She was born on June 12, 1927 the daughter of Kenneth B. Brackett and Josephine Lillian Ouellette Brackett in Exeter, New Hampshire. Doris was raised by her mother Lillian and her stepfather Oliver Bolduc.

On Sept. 27, 1947, she married Andre F. Blanchette at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford. They spent 44 years together until his death on Aug. 20, 1991.

She worked at Sigma as a winder and coil wrapper for over 30 years until her retirement in 1987. She was a wonderful dancer and won several dance championships. She always enjoyed watching her soap operas. She liked going to the casino and to Aruba. She also enjoyed reading, putting puzzles together and doing crossword puzzles.

She is preceded in death by her son, Andre D. Blanchette on March 26, 2002.

Doris is survived by her son, Charlie Jones and his wife Dianne of Scarborough; a sister Joan Mozdzynski and her husband Jack of Arundel; a nephew Todd Dubuc and his wife Wendy of Westbrook; a niece Holly Loihle and her husband Wayne of New Jersey; three godchildren Paula Armstrong of Scarborough, Elizabeth Cote of Scarborough and Lori Ann Rivard of Merrimac, New Hampshire; four grandnephews Todd, Jr., Kenny, Colby, and Christian Dubuc, all of Westbrook; a grandniece Miley Dubuc of Westbrook; and many more extended family and friends.

Visiting Hours will be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.  Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, Massachusetts on Monday at noon. 

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful nursing and hospice staff for all of the amazing care they gave to Doris.
