PORTLAND — The Thornton Academy softball team rallied from a three-run deficit with three solo home runs in the top of the seventh to force extra innings and the Golden Trojans would pick up a 10-6 win over Portland in eight innings on Monday.
Jenica Botting, Hannah Collins and Sarah Casey smacked solo homers to help TA tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh.
TA would then get a three-run double from Amanda Bogardus to take an 8-5 lead and Collins made it 10-5 with a two-run shot in the top of the eighth.
Biddeford 4, Marshwood 3
Lexi Matteau struck out two batters to end the game after Marshwood loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh on Monday.
Brook Davis led Biddeford with four hits and Katie Stewart also had multiple hits for the Tigers.
Matteau earned the win in the circle as she allowed three hits and struck out 11.
Wells 15, Lake Region 1 (5 innings)
Anya Chase went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and four runs scored to lead the Warriors to the win on Monday.
Sam Bogue and Karissa Kenyon each had two hits and three RBIs for Wells.
Kenyon went the distance in the circle with seven strikeouts.
South Portland 14, Sanford 6
The Red Riots scored eight times in the fifth to break open Monday’s game.
Sanford was led by Tori Lawrence with two hits and Kaitlyn Farmer with one hit and one RBI.
BOYS TENNIS
Kennebunk/Wells 5, Cheverus 0
Declan Archer, Dan Behrans and Mason Burke were all victorious in singles matches as Kennebunk/Wells rolled to the win on Monday.
Keegan Donaher and Logan Strauss picked up a win at first doubles, while Tom Zubb and Jack Gurski won their second doubles match.
