I am Donna Loring, tribal elder and former Penobscot Nation representative to the Maine Legislature. I want to give my personal endorsement to state Rep. Rachel Talbot Ross in Maine House District 40.

Rachel is a close friend. In the 20 years I’ve known her, she has been a tireless fighter for equal justice, the unemployed, the homeless and those incarcerated. She is serving in the most powerful policymaking body in the state. That is not easy for one lone woman of color. I know. I also know she is a strong and honorable woman. She knows that people need good jobs, affordable health care and education.

I urge those of you in her district to support her in the June 12 Democratic primary and re-elect her to the House. She will not forget her duties to her community. She certainly would have my vote and the vote of many of us from the Maine tribes.
