The 93rd annual Pilgrimage Service at the Elder Grey Meeting House will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at 346 Chadbourne Ridge Road.

Friends’ annual book sale will be held Friday, Saturday

The Friends of the Wells Public Library will hold their annual book sale from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wells Junior High School on Route 1.

There will be a $5 entry fee on Friday (free for Friends). Saturday is free for all. Proceeds support library programming.

Library hosting programs for youths, adults this week

Wells Public Library will host a variety of programs for youths and adults this week, at 1434 Post Road, unless otherwise indicated.

Children’s and teen programs will include:

Mother Goose Storytime at 10:30 a.m. Monday, offering children ages 24 months and younger and their caregivers an opportunity to engage in lap activities, rhymes, songs and fingerplays.

Crafty Kids invites youths of all ages to drop by at 3 p.m. Tuesdays to create varied art projects. All materials will be supplied.

Books at the Beach will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the gazebo in Harbor Park, weather permitting. Children will be engaged in stories, songs and movement activities.

“Santa in the Summer” at 3 p.m. Thursday. Come to the library and hang out with a holiday favorite – maybe even take the opportunity to tell him what you are wishing for this Christmas. Crafts and activities will be provided for the whole family.

Lego and Rubik’s Cube Club, for all ages, will meet at 3 p.m. Friday to build master creations with Legos or solve Rubik’s Cubes, all provided by the library.

Adult programs will include:

Meditation Group, meeting at noon Monday for meditative practice, focusing on relaxing imagery, deep stillness and quiet, and positive affirmations.

Conversational French Language Group will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, for an informal approach to practicing or relearning French.

Fiber Arts meets at 10 a.m. Friday to work on a variety of individual and group needlework projects.

Midcoast Actors’ Studio will perform ‘Cabaret’

The Midcoast Actors’ Studio will perform the musical production “Cabaret” over the next two weekends at The Crosby Center, 96 Church St.

Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday and Aug. 10 and 11, with noon shows Sunday and Aug. 12.

Tickets are $20 for general seating,d $30 for limited cabaret seating. Tickets can be purchased at midcoastactors.org or by calling 370-7592.

Salvation Army holding 5K event Monday morning

The Salvation Army Freedom 5K Walk/Run is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. Monday at the Old Orchard Beach High School, 40 E. Emerson Cummings Blvd.

The route offers an ocean view and funds raised directly benefit The Salvation Army’s Anti-Human Trafficking Programs. Race day registration begins at 6:45 a.m. Cost is $30.

KENNEBUNK

Steampunk fair invites costumed participants

The Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk will host its fourth annual Southern Maine Steampunk Fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, offering demonstrations; meet-and-greets with authors; a Steampunk Tea Duel; and Victorian lawn games, all with a futuristic twist.

New this year is a Steampunk High Tea, hosted by the Guild of Extraordinary Gentlewomen, at 1 p.m.

Admission is $5, $2 for museum members. Tickets to participate in the Steampunk High Tea are $30, with free admission to the fair.

Attendees are encouraged to come in costume, or purchase one at the fair.

Historian will lead talk at historical society meeting

Library ‘planetarium’ offering shows Tuesday

Northern Stars Planetarium will offer showings of “Sandy, Pepper and the Eclipse” on Tuesday at the Scarborough Public Library, 48 Gorham Road.

The planetarium is an inflatable theater that utilizes a star projector, slides, video, special effects, and sound system to share the wonders of the Earth, moon and sun.

Spaces are still available for the 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. shows. This free program is for children who are in kindergarten through grade 5. Reservations are required by calling the Youth Room at 883-4723, option 3, or emailing kids@scarboroughlibrary.org.

Jumble Sale scheduled for Saturday at church

St. George Episcopal Church will hold its annual Jumble (yard) Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 3 Emerson St.

Proceeds will benefit the Sanford Outreach Programs.
