Images of Maine’s iconic rugged coastline will be the star of Kefauver Studio & Gallery’s latest exhibition.

Opening today, and running through Sept. 9, the “Rock ‘n’ Wave” art show is the gallery’s third of the season. An opening reception will take place from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday; many of the guest artists will be present to meet visitors and discuss their work.

The show features new work by oil painter Will Kefauver and his 35 guest artists, including 11 who are getting the first taste of having their work exhibited at the gallery.

“It’s always a pleasure to see the entries come in for the ‘Rock ‘n’ Wave show,’ but this year we’ve had an outstanding turnout — many new artists and old friends — making this the biggest show we’ve done to date,” said Kefauver in a press release. “We’ll have over 55 new works celebrating our wonderful shoreline.

“Crashing surf, quiet inlets, majestic cliffs running into the sea, or the peaceful lapping of waves against the pilings of a dock — so much of what we love about Maine happens where water meets land,” he added. “So many of our talented artists and photographers took on the opportunity to share this beauty through their work.”

The new artists are sculptor Dave Maher; photographers Sandy Adams and Jennifer Hickey; oil painters Tricia Granzier, Sandy Harper and Polly McGrory; acrylic painters Nicole Karr and Julie Waterman; watercolorist Mark Kuehn; watercolorist and encaustic painter Andrea Timm and collage artist Lucinda Talbot.

The returning guest artists are photographers Steve Dunn and Carl Root; oil painters George Baker, Marcia Brandwein, Sandra Dunn, Chris Essler, Lisa Kyle, Sally Loughridge, Brooke Pacy, Polly Steadman and Helen Warner; acrylic painters Wolfgang Busse, Dale Dapkins, Hannah Ineson, DiTa Ondek and Gail Wartell; printmaker Deborah Kozak; acrylic painter and sculptor Marnie Sinclair; acrylic painter and watercolorist Linda Van Tassell; watercolorists Jane Bowman, Jan Kilburn, Kathy Lane and Cindy Spencer; and pastel artist Barbara Vanderbilt.

Refreshments will be served at the reception, and there is free parking.

The Kefauver Studio & Gallery is located at 144 Bristol Road in Damariscotta, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. Will Kefauver can be reached at (207) 226-0974, [email protected] or kefauverstudio.com.
