DAYTON — Norman “Bumpa” Forrest Tripp, age 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 27, 2018 at the Maine Medical Center.

He was born at home in Dayton on Sept. 7, 1936, the son of the late Edwin and Agnes “Midge” (Clough) Tripp and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1955.

He served in the US Navy and went on to start a career in trucking.  He drove for WT Grant, Shaw’s, and then C & J Trucking.  He also delivered newspapers for the Smart Shopper.

Norman will always be remembered for his love of family, hard work ethic, serving others in need, and his faith in the Lord.

He was a longtime member of the Free Baptist Church of East Waterboro where he served as a trustee, deacon, and an usher.

Norman was also active with the Meals on Wheels program in Southern Maine.

He is predeceased by a son- Scott Tripp, who passed away in 1979.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years- Barbara (Oakes) Tripp; his children- Craig Tripp and his wife Debbie of Dayton and Tami Tripp of Saco; sister- Sydna Simard of NC; grandchildren- Josh Tripp and his fiancé Sarah of Biddeford and Shannon Schwartz and her husband Ryan of Biddeford; great grandchildren- Sophia, Mason, Faith, and Conor; and many church family members and dear friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 2 from 3 – 4 PM, followed by a 4 PM funeral service at the Free Baptist Church of East Waterboro, 213 Main St. (Rt. 202) in East Waterboro. Burial will be private at Goodwins Mills Village Cemetery.
