LEWISTON — Charlotte MacMillan had 18 points to lead the Brunswick High School girls basketball team to a 61-47 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lewiston on Tuesday.

Marley Groat had 12 points for the Dragons (4-0), while Logan Brown added 11 points.

Emily Strachan led all scorers with 23 points for the Blue Devils (0-4), and Madeline Foster had 16.

Brunswick hosts Biddeford on Friday at 7 p.m.

Edward Little opened up a 16-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back in a KVAC win over the Eagles at Auburn.

Mt. Ararat, 1-3 and slated to host Lincoln Academy on Friday at 7 p.m., trailed 31-12 at the half and 40-21 after three.

Hannah Chaput led the Red Eddies (3-1) with 16 points, followed by Jaden Perry and Grace Fontaine with 11 points each.

Alexa Eaton and Grace Liedman paced Mt. Ararat with seven and six points, respectively. Elsa Daulerio and Liedman had six rebounds, Kyla Greenleaf for steals and Ainsley Bryant three assists.

At the free-throw line, the Red Eddies went 11-of-15 and the Eagles 5-of-9.

Morse 26
Med. Valley 61

The host Panthers jumped out to a 20-2 lead after a quarter and cruised to a KVAC win over the Shipbuilders at Waldoboro.

Medomak Valley led 38-5 at the half and 52-14 after three.

Audrey Schafer, Kayla Donlin and Sadie Cohen each scored 10 points in the win, with Abby Lash adding nine points.

Julia Goddard paced Morse (0-4) with eight points.

The Shipbuilders visit Freeport on Friday at 7 p.m. .

Boys basketball

BATH — Gabe Aucoin penetrated the Medomak Valley defense, scored and was fouled with six seconds left to lift Morse to a 66-63 KVAC win over Medomak Valley.

“The kids really battled offensively and defensively in the fourth quarter,” said Morse coach Tom Maines, whose Shipbuilders improved to 2-2 and host Freeport on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Morse led 37-29 at the half, but struggled in third quarter in falling behind the previously unbeaten Panthers (3-1).

Tom Warren led the way for Morse with 21 points, while Aucoin and Josh ter Mors had 18 each. Aucoin was 10-of-13 at the free-throw line, while ter Mors hit two late free throws to complete the win.

Morse finished 22-of-35 at the line, while Medomak Valley went 18-of-24.

Ryan Creamer led the Panthers with 20 points, followed by Chris Bowman with 13.

Winthrop 57
Richmond 28

The visiting Ramblers outscored the Bobcats, 30-9 in the second and third quarters combined en route to a Mountain Valley Conference win.

Winthrop (5-0) trailed 10-9 after a quarter, but took control, leading 29-17 at the half and 39-19 after three.

Cam Wood led the win with 14 points, with Ryan Baird adding 10 points. The Ramblers were 6-of-9 from the foul line

Nick Adams and Calob Densmore had 10 points apiece for Richmond (1-4), which is slated to visit Boothbay on Thursday at 7 p.m. Dakotah Gilpatric added seven points, Densmore pulled down eight rebounds and Mason Blake chipped in three steals. The Bobcats were 3-of-6 at the line.

Lewiston 63
Brunswick 61

Hassan Hussein drained the final of his four 3-pointers during the waning seconds, giving Lewiston a 62-61 lead over Brunswick, which led to a Blue Devils victory in KVAC play at Brunswick.

Hussein’s 25 points led the Blue Devils (1-3).

Finn Mitchell had 20 points for Brunswick (2-2), Noah Cox 14 and Noah Goddard 12.

The Dragons hit the road for Biddeford on Friday at 7 p.m.

Lisbon 54
Monmouth 57

Senior guard Dylan Lajoie tossed a team-high 15 points to lead a balanced attack as Monmouth hung on for an MVC victory over Lisbon.

The Mustangs (2-3) played even in the first two quarters for a 26-26 tie at halftime.

Connor Davies contributed 14 points and Gabe Martin chipped in 12, and Monmouth cruised to a 12-point lead after three quarters.

But the Greyhounds (1-3) attempted to bounce back in the final minutes as senior guard Corey Wiers posted nine points down the stretch.

DJ Douglass led Lisbon with an impressive game-high 28 points in the losing effort.

The Greyhounds host Dirigo on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Girls hockey

BRUNSWICK — Gabby Benson’s second goal of the game in overtime capped a comeback as Winslow/Gardiner edged past Brunswick, 6-5, at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

Benson, Katie Bailey and Kaitlin Fecteau all scored in the third period for Black Tigers (2-4), which trailed by three goals through two periods.

Gabby Hebert and Julia Hinkley also scored goals for the Black Tigers.

Beth Labbe picked up a hat trick for Brunswick, with Shea Sullivan and Harriet Peabody adding a goal each. Emily Factor dished out two helpers, with Greta White and Charlotte Kirk chipping in an assist each.

Brunswick netminder Nadia Leiner had 43 saves in a solid effort.

The Dragons fell to 0-7 and host Gorham/Bonny Eagle/Massabesic on Thursday at 4:45 p.m.
