Freeport based outdoor retailer L.L.Bean is expanding its Outdoor Discovery Programs to Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. L.L.Bean first offered mountain biking programs on the trails at Pineland in 2017 and will expand to include fly fishing and archery this spring and summer, along with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing next winter.

Catch-and-release fly fishing programs will be a key feature at Pineland which features both pond and brook fishing. The site also features an extensive, well maintained trail system for a variety of outdoor activities year-round. L.L.Bean will offer paid instructional programs as well as seasonal free events to encourage local families and visitors alike to get outside and have fun.

“With thousands of acres of forests, fields, streams and ponds, Pineland is a uniquely abundant venue for outdoor enthusiasts of all abilities,” said Matthew Sabasteanski, outdoor recreation director at Pineland Farms. “We are excited to partner with L.L.Bean to bring new people to experience this remarkable Maine outdoor resource.”

“Our mission is to get people of all ages outside to discover new activities,” said Gretchen Ostherr, director of L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Programs. “Pineland offers us expansive opportunities for families of all kinds to learn new ways to love the outdoors.”

In addition to programs at Pineland, L.L.Bean will continue to offer water-based programs at the L.L.Bean Paddling Center on Casco Bay in Freeport, as well as standup paddleboarding on the Royal River in Yarmouth and shooting sports at their Fogg Farm range in Freeport.

L.L.Bean programs began at Pineland on April 6. A full schedule of Outdoor Discovery Programs can be found online at www.llbean.com/adventure.
