A Navy admiral from Maine has taken on a new command as director of air warfare for the chief of naval operations.
Rear Adm. Gregory “Hyfi” Harris has more than 4,200 flight hours and has flown more than 100 combat missions in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He began his new assignment after an aerial change-of-command ceremony in the skies over Texas.
Harris handed over the command to Rear Adm. Daniel “Dozer” Dwyer while both were flying T-45C jet aircraft from Training Air Wing 2. Harris and Dwyer read their orders and Dwyer’s aircraft moved ahead to take lead of the formation, indicating the change of command.
