GRAY — Rachel Wall and Carly Intraversato each scored a goal to power the Freeport High School girls soccer team to a season-opening 2-0 Western Maine Conference win over Gray-New Gloucester on Thursday.

Wall opened the scoring with 2:36 left in the first half off an Intraversato setup, and Intraversato powered a direct kick into the cage from 30 feet out late in the second half. 

Freeport, 1-0 and slated to host Greely on Tuesday at 6 p.m., received seven saves from Leah Rusiecki in the win.

Brunswick 1

Ceceilia Dieterich scored with 17 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the host Vikings to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over the Dragons at South Paris.

Brunswick (0-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an Isabella Banks goal off an assist from Molly Taub.

Ella Kellog tied the game for Oxford Hills (1-0). 

Aisley Snell had 10 saves for the Dragons, while Vikings keeper Lizzie Hallee turned away five shots. 

Brunswick visits Mt. Ararat on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Hall-Dale 6, Wiscasset 0

Lilly Platt had a pair of goals to power the visiting Bulldogs to a Mountain Valley Conference win over the host Wolverines. 

Wiscasset (0-1) visits Lisbon on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Boys soccer

FREEPORT — Ethan Prescott tallied a pair of goals and dished out an assist as Freeport rolled to a 5-0 WMC win over Gray-New Gloucester. 

Sam Tourigny, Cam Strong and Finn Sheehan chipped in a goal each. 

Jesse Bennell dished out two assists, and Gabe Wagner made three stops in the net for the shutout.

The Falcons are 1-0 and visit Greely on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

TOPSHAM — Rylee Poulin scored two goals to spark Messalonskee to a 3-1 win over Mt. Ararat in a KVAC opener.

Annie Corbett added a goal and an assist, Olivia Fauchier had an assist, and Nealey Dillon made 10 saves for Messalonskee.

Holly Temple scored and Emma Lapreziosa stopped nine shots for Mt. Ararat (0-1), which visits Bangor on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Girls volleyball

BRUNSWICK — Brunswick/Mt. Ararat opened its season with a 3-1 victory over Massabesic.

The Dragons, 1-0 and slated to visit Yarmouth on Wednesday at 6 p.m., received 14 kills and three service aces from senior captain Kathleen Trapp along with four aces and five kills from senior captain Sabrina Cooper. 

Naomi Martin dished out 32 assists and served up three aces for the Dragons.
