WATERBORO — State Sen. David Woodsome, R-Waterboro, has been appointed to the Maine Climate Council, a new group created to advise Governor Janet Mills and the Legislature on ways to mitigate the causes of, prepare for, and adapt to the consequences of climate change.

The council was established by a bill sponsored by Senator Woodsome in the last legislative session. It is designed to examine all of the issues related to climate change policy in Maine and suggest new ideas and changes to the legislature in time for their next session in January, said Woodsome in a statement.

“I am very happy to know that our region will have a voice in future decisions relating to such an important subject and I look forward to exploring the issues, facts, and policies involved,” Woodsome said.
