Charles “Chuck” H. Bibeau Sr.

SCARBOROUGH – Charles “Chuck” H. Bibeau, Sr., 86, of South Portland, passed away peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Feb. 6, 2021.

Chuck was born on April 2, 1934 in Portland to the late Greta E. Lablanc and Charles H. Bibeau. Charles grew up in Portland and attended grade school in Portland. He graduated from Cheverus High School where he excelled in football as a fullback. After high school, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany.

Charles enjoyed trips with his wife to the White Mountains and Campobello Island. He also enjoyed growing a variety of roses with his wife Jean. He was a member of the American, Maine, New Hampshire, and New England Rose Societies. Charles and his wife, Jean won many awards for rose they exhibited in shows. He was also a master model boat maker.

He was employed at Amtek, Crosby-Laughlin and the Portland School Department. He was a Communicant at St. John the Evangelist in South Portland and St. Maximillian-Kolbe Church in Scarborough.

Charles was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean L. Carter Bibeau; and his brothers, Philip, Robert, and Donald Bibeau.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Cheryl D. Marceau of Livermore, sons, Gary W. Marceau and his fiancée Rhonda J. Cassidy of Falmouth, Mark C. Marceau and his wife Nancy of Old Orchard Beach, Charles H. Bibeau Jr. and his wife Catherine of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his granddaughter Skylerr Bibeau. Charles is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe, 150 Black Point Rd., Scarborough.
