Find a comfortable spot at home and travel with the Strand Theatre to London for a filmed production of the Tony Award-winning musical “Kinky Boots.” The show is based on actual events involving Charlie Price who inherited a show factory from his father and winds up forming an allegiance with cabaret and drag performer Lola to produce some epic, company-saving high-heeled boots. Eighties icon Cyndi Lauper wrote the music and lyrics, and the book is by celebrated playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein. Don’t drag your heels when it comes to grabbing a ticket!

Either in person or from your home is how you can see the new exhibit by multimedia artist and educator Katarina Weslien. The show merges three long-term endeavors that express Weslien’s interest in symbolic systems of meaning-making within and beyond spiritual traditions. She has taken numerous trips to India since the mid-’70s, and one of the main elements of her work is the incorporation of her interactions with the Ganges River as well as Tibet’s mountain lakes.

You’ll be on the right track for an entertaining night out by heading to Falmouth for “Wrong Turn at Romance.” Written by Alice Holton, the play tells of the tale of two souls converging at a rustic retreat for a weekend of hilarious chatter and smile-inducing discovery. It’s a fresh take on the notion that opposites attract. The show stars guest artist Pam Mutty and the Footlights’ own Michael J. Tobin.

Around the corner from the Mayo Street Arts permanent location, you’ll find its pop-up gallery, home to an exhibit of captivating paintings by Patt Franklin whose specialty is abstract forms that bring to mind rain forests, seaweed, leaves, caves and other found-in-nature elements. The show, curated by June Fitzpatrick, can be seen in person or on the Mayo Street Arts website. Franklin originally found her way to Maine to teach pottery at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle and was a professor of art at what’s now University of Southern Maine for 30 years.
