PORTLAND – Gloria Mae (Lowell) Chamard, 88, of Windham passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021.

Daughter of George and Madeline (Lamb) Lowell, Gloria was born in Windham, and spent her entire life there. She attended local schools and graduated from Windham High School.

Mrs. Chamard was a devoted mother, homemaker, and community volunteer. Gloria established the first nursery school in Windham and was a Leader of Girl Scouts, Brownies, Cub Scouts, and Webelos for many years. Gloria loved to cook and enjoyed sharing that with her family. Gloria worked as the Faculty Secretary at St. Joseph’s College for more than 14 years.

Gloria was predeceased by her husband of nearly seventy years, Raymond Russell Chamard; brother, George Lowell, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Tracy McPhail.

Surviving are Gloria’s children, Karen McPhail of New York, Russell Chamard of Florida and George Chamard of Portland; grandchildren, Betsy Gloria McPhail, Amy Chamard, Chad Chamard, Sara Chamard, and Brian Chamard; great-grandchildren, Petra Chamard, McKenna Donovan, and Kelsey Donovan; and a brother, Richard Lowell of North Yarmouth.

Private interment will be held at Mayberry Cemetery, Windham.
