Stephen Arthur Hutchinson

AUGUSTA – Stephen Arthur Hutchinson, 71, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.Stephen was born on Feb. 19, 1951, in Portland, Maine, to Merle and Bertha (Provost) Hutchinson. He graduated from South Portland High School in 1969 and went on to begin working for Central Maine Power as an Area Operator in Systems Dispatch. In 2012, he retired after a 43 year-long career. On April 16, 1971, he married the love of his life, the former Marilyn Widor of South Portland. He enjoyed fishing, family cook-offs, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. His most favorite time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Pop”.He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Widor) Hutchinson of Augusta; three daughters, Cathy Hutchinson of Farmingdale, Julie King and husband Scott of Augusta, Danielle Simard and husband Ian of Augusta, son Michael Hutchinson and wife Crystal of Orange Park, FL; five grandchildren: Brayden, Tegan, Sarah, Landen, Kiley; brothers David Hutchinson of South Hadley, Mass., Paul Hutchinson and wife Kathy of North Yarmouth, Peter Hutchinson and wife Helene of Standish, sister Julie and husband Steven of Windham, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Merle and Bertha, sister Beth Gardner, daughter Lori Hutchinson.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 at Saint Mary’s Church, 41 Western Avenue, Augusta, Maine.
