In response to Walter J. Eno’s letter to the editor (“Jan. 6 testimony should not be admissible” July 4): If he had seen the actual hearing he would know that the only reason the other side is not represented is that those people refused to appear because they don’t want the public to watch them “take the Fifth” over and over. Many have been served subpoenas and are fighting them. They don’t want to tell their side under oath because they would have to tell the truth.
The explosive evidence in Ms. Hutchison’s testimony was that former President Trump was told that many persons were carrying assault rifles and yet he told them to march to the Capitol and “fight like hell.” She was there. That was not hearsay.
Faithful Republicans, who believe in democracy, are stepping up to preserve it.
