Adding to the New England grid via New England Clean Energy Connect provides the network for future electric cars, heat pumps and renewable energies to function smoothly. As electric cars replace gas-powered cars; as heat pumps reduce the usage of gas, oil and wood furnaces, and as renewable energies like wind and solar replace coal and fossil fuels, our carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels and wood will be reduced significantly.

This reduction in emissions can by quantified easily. Take gas-fueled cars, for example: Running the car emits over 20 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions from 1 gallon of gas. Multiply that by the amount of gas consumed by the car in a day. Multiply that by over 1 million vehicles in the state of Maine.

Taking gas-fueled cars off the road alone reduces emissions enormously, thus helping to reduce climate change. Electricity is our future!
