Watching the shockingly rude behavior of several Republicans during the State of the Union address Feb. 7 just sheds more light on how they have no interest in supporting the majority of Americans. It was also comical to see spineless House Speaker Kevin McCarthy try to shush them as they booed and shouted names at the president of the United States.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene called President Biden a liar when he relayed how some Republicans wanted cuts to Social Security and/or Medicare, even though there is proof of this. Sen. Mike Lee, among those who proposed cuts to these programs (that working Americans have paid for), sat shaking his head.

Rep. Lauren Boebert shook her head when Biden suggested bringing back the ban on assault weapons, an idea that a majority of Americans support. I wish Boebert would justify the ownership of such weapons by anyone other than law enforcement or active-duty military members.

As President Biden spoke about taxing millionaires, billionaires and large corporations fairly, Republican members sat complacently, perhaps thinking of ways they could protect their own assets and help their corporate donors. To me, all of this is serves as more proof that Republicans care more about themselves than they do about most Americans.
