Jeremiah Jenkins hit a two-run home run in the first inning – his 10th of the season – as the University of Maine baseball team beat Albany 12-1 on Saturday in Orono to remain unbeaten in America East play.

Jake Marquez drove in four runs, and Jake Rainess was 3 for 5 with a home run, three runs scored and an RBI for the Black Bears, who improved to 14-11 overall and 8-0 in America East. Quinn McDaniel was 4 for 5 and scored four times, Colin Plante was 4 for 5 with three RBI, and Ryan Turenne hit a solo home run.

Jason Bottari had two hits for Albany (3-19-1, 0-8).

USM SWEEPS: Kyle Douin had three hits, four RBI and scored twice to lead Southern Maine (8-12, 4-2 Little East) to a 14-0 win over Western Connecticut State (3-21, 0-6) in the first game of a doubleheader in Gorham.

Douin and Jonathan Wilson each had two hits in the second game, which USM won 8-4 to extend their winning streak to six.

BOWDOIN SPLITS: Ben McKenzie and Stephen Simoes had back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Bowdoin (11-6, 2-1 NESCAC) to a 2-1 win over Trinity (13-7, 3-3) in the first game of a doubleheader in Brunswick.

Jack Mullen went the distance on the mound for Bowdoin, allowing one unearned run.

Trinity won Game 2, 5-2.

COLBY SWEEPS BATES: Ethan Hillenberg was 3 for 4 with eight RBI in Game 2, and the Mules (14-6, 3-3 NESCAC) completed a sweep against the Bobcats (10-9, 1-5) with a 23-4 win in Lewiston.

Colby won the first game, 7-4.

SMCC SWEEPS: Justin Colon finished the day with four hits and four RBI as the SeaWolves (9-10) swept Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse (1-9), 5-1 and 11-0, in South Portland.

UMAINE SPLITS: Jasmine Gray singled in the winning run as Maine (9-22, 2-4 America East) won 4-3 in a doubleheader opener against Bryant (10-18, 2-5) in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Bryant won the second game, 3-2.

BOWDOIN SWEEPS: Lilly Armstrong hit a sacrifice fly as Bowdoin (14-12, 7-5 NESCAC) finished a doubleheader sweep against Trinity (7-9, 2-2) with a 2-1 win in Brunswick.

Angeline Mayers had a grand slam as Bowdoin won the first game, 10-2.

USM SPLITS: Lauren Merrilll allowed just one hit and drove in the winning run as Southern Maine (7-11, 3-1 Little East) earned a split against UMass Boston (15-5, 2-2) with a 1-0 victory in Boston, after a 10-2 loss in Game 1.

ST. JOSEPH’S LOSES TWICE: Anna Maria (12-11, 7-1 GNAC) scored six runs in the third inning as it finished a doubleheader sweep of the Monks (9-13, 4-2) with an 11-8 win in Marlboro, Massachusetts, following an 8-2 victory in the opener.

TUFTS SWEEPS COLBY: Keriann Slayton hit a two-run single as the Jumbos (21-1, 6-0 NESCAC) wrapped up a sweep of the Mules (12-8, 1-3) with a 2-0 win in Medford, Massachusetts.

Tufts won the first game, 7-2.

BATES SWEEPS WESLEYAN: Madison Hollis was 3 for 4 with three RBI and the Bobcats (10-4, 4-2 NESCAC) beat the Cardinals (10-14, 0-6) to complete a doubleheader sweep with a 9-4 win in Middletown, Connecticut.

Hollis pitched a complete game in the opener, which Bates won 5-0.

CCRI SWEEPS SMCC: Ashley Klingberg and Casey Regine each had six RBI as the Knights (7-7) swept a doubleheader with the SeaWolves (1-13), winning 17-2 and 11-2 in South Portland.

MEN’S LACROSSE

ST. JOSEPH’S 16, NORWICH 12: Tim Goodfellow and Tiger Hopkins each had four goals and two assists as the Monks (6-7, 4-2 GNAC) beat the Cadets (4-9, 2-4) in Standish.

KEENE STATE 19, SOUTHERN MAINE 10: Nick James recorded four goals and two assists and Schuyler Wetmore also scored four goals, but USM (2-8, 0-2 Little East) lost to Keene State (5-4, 3-0) in Gorham.

AMHERST 16, COLBY 12: Jack Goller scored three goals, and Nick Hassan had two goals and two assists for Colby (2-7, 0-6 NESCAC) in a loss to Amherst (8-2, 4-2) in Waterville.

HAMILTON 15, BATES 6: Malcolm Klingbell led Bates (1-9, 0-7 NESCAC) with three goals and an assist in a loss to the Continentals (5-5, 3-4) in Lewiston.

COLBY 13, AMHERST 12: Julia Jardina scored with 5:17 left in overtime as the Mules (8-3, 4-2 NESCAC) edged the Mammoths (7-3, 3-3) in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Elizabeth Hennessey led Colby with four goals. Jardina added three.

MEN’S HOCKEY

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: Jacob Quillan scored 10 seconds into overtime to give Quinnipiac a 3-2 victory over Minnesota in Tampa, Florida, for its first NCAA title.

Quinnipiac (34-4-3) trailed for more than 50 minutes but tied the game when Collin Graf scored with 3:47 left in regulation.

Minnesota (29-10-1) led 2-0 on goals by John Mittelstadt in the first period and Jaxon Nelson about five minutes into the second. Cristophe Tellier’s goal with 12:39 left in the second period trimmed Quinnipiac’s deficit to 2-1.

HOBEY BAKER: Michigan freshman forward Adam Fantilli won the Hobey Baker Award, recognizing the top player in college hockey.

Fantilli, a Canadian, led the Wolverines to the Frozen Four and was the nation’s top scorer with 65 points, tying for first in goals with 30 and fifth in assists with 35.

The other two finalists for the award were freshman Logan Cooley and sophomore Matthew Knies, both of top-seeded Minnesota.
