Brody Gullison hit a two-run homer during a six-run first inning and Jack Joyce forced the mercy rule with a three-run homer in a four-run sixth as York earned an 11-1 baseball win over Brunswick in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday at York.

Joyce was also the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings. Jakob Bergeron pitched a perfect sixth with one strikeout.

Conor Fell had two hits and three RBI. Gullison and Jake Fogg also got two hits apiece.

York improved to 3-4. Brunswick is 2-2.

NOBLE 3, SANFORD 1: Nathan Locke pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts, and the Knights (3-1) scored three runs in the third inning to beat the Spartans (3-1) in Sanford.

Locke, Connor McCabe and Maison Mathews each had an RBI for Noble.

SOFTBALL

BRUNSWICK 3, YORK 2: Ellie Sullivan struck out seven while pitching the Dragons (4-0) to a win over the Wildcats (4-1) in York.

Ella Moon drove in a run for the Wildcats. Mikayla Kortes pitched a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts.

KENNEBUNK/SANFORD 13, BONNY EAGLE 0: Emily Hutchins led Kennebunk/Sanford (5-0) with four RBI in a five-inning win over the Scots (0-5) in Kennebunk.

Hutchins, Talia Kellum and winning pitcher Julia Pike each had two hits, and Hannah Mueller and Dakota Stone hit a double. Pike and Melody Rouselle combined on a one-hitter.

POLAND 8, WELLS 5: Olivia Rioux notched three hits and an RBI, and the Knights (5-1) used an eight-run sixth inning to come from behind and beat the Warriors (2-3) in Wells.

Khloe O’Leary added a double, a single and an RBI. Nicole Rioux hit a two-run double and Gretchyn Paradis earned the win in the circle, with 10 strikeouts.

Savannah Tardiff led Wells with two hits and an RBI. Delani Brown pitched all seven innings for the Warriors.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

SOUTH PORTLAND 18, DEERING 5: Beckett Mehlhorn and Brady Demers each produced seven goals as the Red Riots (5-1) rolled past the Rams (3-2) in Portland.

Luc Mehlhorn chipped in with two goals and two assists.

Joey Foley scored twice for Deering.

TRAIP ACADEMY 13, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 10: Tucker Johnson recorded three goals and four assists to lead the Rangers (4-2) past the Raiders (2-4) in Kittery.

Makili Matty also scored three times for Traip. Terrence Swiger, Noah Matthews and Eli Holben each added two goals.

SCARBOROUGH 12, BONNY EAGLE 7: Drew Witas put in five goals to lead the Red Storm (2-4) over the Scots (2-4) in Scarborough.

Wes Merrill and Olin Pederson each added two goals and Sabastian Furr tallied a goal and two assists for Scarborough. Red Storm goalie Ben Kerbel made five saves.

Connor Krunkkala scored six goals for Bonny Eagle.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

LINCOLN ACADEMY 17, MT. BLUE 11: Mariam Delisle totaled seven goals and an assist, while Marley LeBel had six goals and two assists to power the Eagles (3-1) to a victory over the Cougars (4-1) in Newcastle.

Celia Brinker, Sophie Day, Abby Kopp and Riley LeBel also scored for Lincoln. Eagles goalie Hunter Gilmore finished with nine saves.

Chloe Roberts led Mt. Blue with four goals and three assists. Maya Kellett added three goals.

WELLS 14, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Anna Woodward scored four goals as the Warriors (4-2) topped the Raiders (0-5) in Fryeburg.

Summer Sullivan contributed three goals and an assist. Cali Leighton and Kendall Maxon each scored twice, and Izzy Leslie, Ellie Moore and Caitlin Rooney all had one goal.
