A man who was on fire when firefighters arrived at his Bridgton home Saturday morning has died from his injuries.
Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine State Fire Marshals’ Office, said in a news release Sunday that the Bridgton Fire Department responded to the report of a fire at 2A Street just after 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The man, who was on the lawn outside the home, was on fire when emergency responders arrived. Firefighters extinguished the flames, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The house was not affected by the fire.
The man’s remains were transported to a funeral home for an examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Moss said the man is believed to be 92-year-old Maurice Langevin, who lived in the home. Positive identification will be made through DNA testing.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, but Moss said there is no evidence of foul play.
