The South Portland Land Trust is celebrating Love Maine Trails Month this month, beginning this Saturday, June 3, which is National Trails Day.

SPLT is inviting the public to volunteer for clean-up projects along Long Creek Trail, such as cutting back brush and removing invasive species.

The work will be done from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers should park and check-in at the trailhead at 50 Lydia Lane. Participants are asked to bring gloves, clippers, and sun and tick protection.

For more information and to register as a volunteer, visit southportlandlandtrust.org and navigate to the events page.

National Trails Day is an initiative of the American Hiking Society and Maine Trails Month is an initiative of the Maine Trails Coalition.
