Plastic is everywhere. It has infiltrated our land, waters and all living things. Plastic poison is in our bloodstream. We know it is bad. Yet societies throughout the world seem unable to create a plan to end the plastic age.
My generation created this mess. Consumers have the power to make change. We can vote and make change in our government, and we can make change to industry and businesses by changing what we buy. Don’t buy anything in plastic. If enough consumers stop buying plastic-wrapped food, business will follow your lead.
Let’s be honest. Most businesses are managed by profit. Larger businesses are a slower machine and only become nimble when their shareholders are not happy. If the consumer stopped buying their plastic-wrapped products, everything would change on a dime. Walk into any grocery store and look at all the plastic. My grocery store has a wall of plastic containers of salad mixed greens. Breads, yogurt, frozen food, meats and cosmetics – all in plastic.
No more plastic. Show your love for our environment by supporting businesses that are developing alternatives. Let’s celebrate good businesses. Let’s take back our power and change the world for the better for our grandchildren. Stop buying foods wrapped in plastic now. It won’t be easy, but we can make change.
As a nation, we can pivot and show the way to a plastic-free world.
