The sentiments voiced a recent op-ed (“Commentary: Trump has officially broken the Republican Party,” June 15) show the only true path we have, as a country, to pull ourselves out of the political morass we are in at present.
Until Republican leaders begin to break away from the Rasputinesque control that Trump has over their party, we will continue to have the running narrative of the “stolen election” and “victimization of Trump” tying up any meaningful discourse to solve the real problems our country faces.
The Republican Party has good strong people who have a respect for the rule of law and the Constitution, but they have to believe in their willingness to stand up to the cult of personality surrounding Trump. Only then we be able to start to have real conversations about how to move this “experiment in democracy” to a better future.
